On countless occasions, it happens that monotony is pressing in our rhythm of life, this is something applicable in all branches and the world of cinema is no exception. Many times the same formula of something is not ideal, on infinite occasions we see something and we feel that we had already seen it, weird right? Well, it doesn't necessarily mean that, it simply means that there are movies that handle similar concepts that can give us that feeling.
En infinidades de ocasiones suele pasar que la monotonía apremia en nuestro ritmo de vida, esto es algo aplicable en todas las ramas y el mundo del cine no es la excepción. Muchas veces la misma fórmula de algo no es realmente lo idóneo, en infinidades de ocasiones pasa que vemos algo y realmente sentimos que ya lo habíamos visto, ¿Raro no? Pues no necesariamente quiere decir eso, simplemente que hay películas que manejan conceptos similares que nos pueden dar esa sensación.
Something like that was what happened to me, I wanted to give myself that feeling of not having seen something like this before, and that is why I set out to find a movie that met these standards and gave me that 180-degree turn I was looking for. Digging a little in movie sites that I have as a reference I found one that caught my attention, not for its name, not for its actors, not for its story (at that time), but its theme. What could this have been? Well, the film is in black and white, and silent. Yes, I had not seen anything like it to date, but this was enough to convince me to see it.
Algo así fue lo que me sucedió, quería darme ese sentimiento de no haber visto algo parecido antes y es por esto que me propuse buscar una película que cumpliera con estos estándares y me diera ese giro de 180 grados que tanto buscaba. Indagando un poco en sitios de películas que tengo como referencia me encontré con una que llamó mi atención, no por su nombre, no por sus actores, no por su historia (en ese momento), sino por su temática. ¿Cuál habrá sido esto? Pues la película es en blanco y negro, y muda. Sí, yo hasta la fecha no había visto ninguna que se le asemejara, pero esto fue suficiente para convencerme de verla.
The film I am going to tell you about is The Artist. Its story revolves around a fairly decorated actor in silent films in the late '20s, at that time the films without sound were the reigning ones since it was the first and only thing that had been brought out similar to this, but not for long because they already had enough advances in sound adapted to films, this is a great threat to the career of the actor. In the middle of everything, he meets a novice actress with quite a future in the new film industries with whom our character falls in love.
La película de la que les hablaré es The Artist. Su historia gira alrededor de un actor bastante condecorado en el cine mudo a finales de los años 20, en aquel entonces las películas sin sonido eran las que reinaban ya que era lo primero y único que se había sacado parecido a esto, pero no por mucho porque ya se tenían bastantes avances del sonido adaptado a las películas, esto supone una gran amenaza a la carrera del actor. En el medio de todo conoce a una actriz novata con bastante futuro de cara a las nuevas industrias del cine de la cual nuestro personaje se enamora.
The plot that surrounds the film may seem to many quite simple and may categorize it as a cliche typical of movies in general, but it is that simple with which it tells you every detail through well-structured scripts that seem to tell you in a friendly way in which you become more and more interested. These factors are one of what I liked most about the film because, although it may seem like a simple romantic comedy at first glance, it manages to deepen a message of a greater cause pleasantly for the viewer.
La trama que envuelve la película puede parecer a muchos bastante simple y puedan categorizarla como un cliché típico de las películas en general, pero es esa simpleza con la que te cuenta todos y cada uno de los detalles a través de guiones bien estructurados que parecen contártelo de forma amigable en la que te vas interesando cada vez más y más. Estos factores son uno de los que más me gustaron de la película porque, si bien puede parecer una simple comedia romántica en primeras instancias, logra profundizar un mensaje de una causa mayor de una manera agradable para el que la ve.
The Artist reflects that progressive feeling that can go both up and down depending on the situation in everyday life and not only applied to a character. Often the ego is part of the decline of the career of many and that ego is developed through testing the absolute success that usually as happens on many occasions in life, is not infinite, is why the film gives us the message that we must always be open to change and not be afraid to leave our comfort zone in what can be a great opportunity to take an extra leap.
The Artist nos refleja ese sentimiento progresivo que puede ir tanto en ascenso como en descenso dependiendo de la situación en la vida cotidiana y no solamente aplicada a un personaje. Muchas veces el ego forma parte del declive de la carrera de muchos y ese ego es desarrollado a través de probar el éxito absoluto que generalmente como sucede en muchas ocasiones de la vida, no es infinito, es por esto que la película nos da el mensaje que siempre debemos estar abiertos al cambio y no tener miedo de salir de nuestra zona de confort en lo que puede ser una oportunidad grande de dar un salto extra.
The film handled a very deep concept, in my perception that romantic comedy plot was something created as a curtain to be able to empathize even more with the characters, but The Artist handles a plot that happened back then, in which the artists of those years had to decide between jumping into the boat of change or stagnate in what they were already doing. This is something interesting because it can serve as a reflection of many situations in life that we may face, in which we will need to take off the armor of what we were already doing to embark on a new unknown path.
La película manejó un concepto bastante profundo, a mi percepción esa trama de comedia romántica fue algo creado como cortina para poder empatizar aún más con los personajes, pero The Artist maneja una trama que sucedió realmente en aquel entonces, en la que los artistas de aquellos años tuvieron que decidir entre saltar al barco del cambio, o estancarse en lo que ya hacían. Esto es algo interesante, ya que esto puede servir como reflejo de muchas situaciones en la vida que se nos pueden presentar, en las que nos hará falta quitarnos la coraza de lo que ya hacíamos para emprender un nuevo camino desconocido.
One of the favorite points in The Artist is the acting of many of its characters, it is not easy to play a role in a film without sound since generally the euphoria and essence of a character takes a preponderant role in the tone of voice of how he handles his dialogues. However, the film was able to concisely reflect the expression of many scenes without reaching the point of overacting.
Uno de los puntos favoritos en The Artist es la actuación de muchos de sus personajes, no es fácil interpretar un papel en una película sin sonido puesto que generalmente la euforia y esencia de un personaje toma un papel preponderante en el tono de voz de como maneja sus diálogos. Sin embargo en la película se supo reflejar de forma concisa la expresión de muchas escenas sin llegar al punto de sobreactuarlo.
Jean Dujardin (main actor) plays a subtle role in getting into the main character in a good way and giving him that touch that he had to represent that is of a positioned and famous character at the time. Also, the remaining characters play an amazing role giving it a touch of old film, because apart from the visual and silent representation that can be given to the film also the films of that time have a characteristic touch of how they gesticulate and develop their characters and that they do very well making you feel in a film of the old cinema.
Jean Dujardin (actor principal) hace un papel sutil metiéndose en el personaje protagonista de una buena forma y dándole ese toque que debía representar que es de personaje posicionado y afamado en la época. También el restante de personajes hacen un papel asombroso dándole un toque de film viejo, ya que aparte de la representación visual y muda que se le pueda dar a la película también los filmes de aquel entonces tienen un toque característico de cómo gesticulan y se desarrollan sus personajes y eso lo hacen muy bien haciéndote sentir en una película del cine antiguo.

Curiosamente el cine mudo nació en Francia, que es de donde proviene esta película. El principal hecho de manejar una visual en blanco y negro como dije lo hace como homenaje referenciándose a las películas de aquel entonces, si bien hace varios años salieron filmes blanco y negro haciendo homenaje a estos, en las últimas décadas ha sido algo que no se ha manejado prácticamente, por lo menos no en una película en su totalidad, y si bien su producción de cámaras si se nota que es algo actual el efecto del blanco y negro lo representan bastante bien a través de las tomas cumpliendo el cometido de parecer un film característico de aquel entonces, adaptado a las cámaras de ahora para una mejor percepción.
The soundtrack is one of the factors that I also liked, I know you may think "Soundtrack? wasn't it a silent movie?". Well yes, but the film has very good music that manages to perfectly set each scene, conveying feelings of danger and harm, peace and tranquility, or abhorrence and unwillingness when the occasion warrants it.
La banda sonora es uno de los factores que me gustó también, sé que se podrá pensar ¿Banda sonora, no era una película muda? Pues sí, pero la película contempla una muy buena música que logra ambientar perfectamente cada escena, transmiten sensaciones de peligro y daño, paz y tranquilidad, o aborrecimiento y pocas ganas cuando la ocasión lo amerita.
Undoubtedly I can not pass up my favorite character in the film, and while I talked about the performance of the protagonist and his cast in general there is a furry friend who plays a key role in the film as well, which is the dog of the protagonist who is also a star and steals the cameras. Trained dogs used in films are a quite acute resource that creates a connection between the owner and the animal making the viewer get quite attached quite quickly. We have already seen this in films like Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" nowadays and this time in The Artist one of the most adorable things is this bond between our protagonist and his pet.
Sin duda alguna no puedo dejar pasar mi personaje favorito de la película, y es que si bien hablé de que la actuación del protagonista y su elenco en general hay un amigo peludo que hace un papel fundamental en la película también, que es el perro del protagonista que también es una estrella y se roba las cámaras. Los perros amaestrados usados en filmes son un recurso bastante lindo que crea una conexión entre el dueño y el animal haciendo que el espectador coja bastante cariño de forma rápida. Ya hemos visto esto en películas como “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” de Tarantino hoy en día y en esta ocasión en The Artist una de las cosas más adorables es este lazo entre nuestro protagonista y su mascota.
In conclusion, The Artist is a wonderful film, it is no surprise that it has swept at the time with so many academy awards and taking the award for Best Picture of 2011. It is one hundred percent recommended, if you want to see something different from what you usually get used to telling in a fun and progressive way this film is a great choice. En conclusión The Artist es una película maravillosa, no es sorpresa que haya arrasado en su momento con tantos premios de la academia y llevándose el premio como Mejor Película del 2011. Muchísimas gracias, es lo bonito de las películas y las lecciones que dejan con respecto a situaciones aplicables a la vida personal, en este caso bastante lindo el mensaje que deja y como a muchos les suele suceder en ocasiones que no logran reinventarse cuando su vida requiere un cambio para mejorar.

El cine de esa época es majestuoso, hasta en cuanto al guion, era más romántico y apostaba a expresiones y tomas largas. Otro aspecto que se ve, es la elegancia de la época, todo luce limpio y habla de la estructura de lo que era aquella sociedad. Pendiente en la agenda esta pelicula
