League of Movies (Quinta edición | Semana 02):Jaws

Thinking about the word darkness terrifies me, I am not a lover of horror movies, suspense or anything that has to do with darkness, I am disturbed by the dark. Despite this, I have seen some films of this genre and one of them is Jaws. This 1975 American film directed by Steven Spielberg is a seventh art masterpiece that unites suspense, horror, humor and drama in the same scheme.

It is about a huge devouring white shark that attacks the inhabitants and tourists who are on the beaches of Amity Island, shores of a small town in the eastern United States. The mayor of the place refuses to close the beach and spread the news to avoid more tragedy, then a new attack occurs claiming the life of a new swimmer and that is when the news is visible to the inhabitants and visitors of the place.

Faced with such an alarming situation, the chief of police, played by Roy Scheider giving life to the character of Martin Brody, in the company of a marine biologist and a professional shark hunter, decide to form a team to hunt the voracious animal living an adventure when they go out in search of the huge shark and they do not find it, it is he who finds them fiercely biting the boat in which they are; A whole fight begins between the men and the shark, this acting intelligently and at the same time threatening a trio of trying to defeat them.

Many scenes of fear and suspense, but at the same time there is the journey of seeing the way in which they defended themselves against the threats of the animal, there were many strategies used to attack the ferocious white shark and when they finally gave it up for lost the Police find an old but powerful rifle which he shoots several times, managing to explode the huge shark loudly and thus defeat it.

This film that made Spielberg a movie star, its main characters are endowed with a lot of humanity which makes it more interesting and brilliant the level of professionalism that the film possesses. Even the music chosen for her is perfect because just by hearing it fear takes over our body and mind.

The masterpiece featured a life-size mechanical replica of the Bruce the Shark that was built with the natural strength of the animal, something that impressed me because it looked real.

It is considered one of the best works in the history of cinema for all the elements it also contains, since with its release many other cinematographic works based on action and adventure took the initiative to launch its premiere in Hollywood. It is a film that at first gave me terror just to watch the tranquility with which the bathers entered the water and their legs floating under the sea while the shark approached them but later I felt the need to see its development and end, although many say that the plot damaged the shark's reputation in reality. I am not an expert in movies but this is one of those that I would recommend within the dark film genre because it is full of excitement and adventure.
