Hace tres años que fue estrenada "Venom", la película sobre el reconocido antihéroe de Marvel Comics que vimos anteriormente en la pantalla grande como el villano de "Spider-man 3", interpretado en aquella ocasión por Topher Grace. La película tiene toques de comedia que si bien, no son necesariamente el humor más astuto, sí logran ser lo suficientemente divertidos como para permitir al espectador disfrutar de la película, permitiendo además la libertad de no tomarse muy en serio las incongruencias, al no ser una película que llegue a tomarse muy en serio a sí misma.
Superheroes and horror, but mostly comedy.
Venom is a movie with many flaws in it, from major plot holes, very unbelievable situations to scenes that feel forced. However, thanks to the acting and charisma of Tom Hardy as Eddie and the dynamism of the story, it manages to be enjoyable and fun.
The film has touches of comedy that, while not necessarily the most clever humor, do manage to be funny enough to allow the viewer to enjoy the film, also allowing the freedom to not take the incongruities too seriously, as it is not a film that takes itself too seriously.
La química entre Eddie y Venom
Como mencioné antes, uno de los elementos que salva a esta película es la actuación de Hardy. Las características de su personaje y su relación con el simbionte acaban siendo de esos dúos que se ganan el cariño del espectador. Aún cuando ambos personajes puedan tener fallos en su desarrollo individual, logran complementarse el uno al otro con sus toques de humor en el proceso.
The chemistry between Eddie and Venom
As I mentioned before, one of the elements that saves this movie is Hardy's performance. The characteristics of his character and his relationship with the symbiote end up being one of those duos that endear themselves to the viewer. Even when both characters may have flaws in their individual development, they manage to complement each other with their touches of humor in the process.

Si disfrutas del cine de acción estadounidense convencional, esta película podría gustarte, pues hace buen uso de las características que hacen atractivo ese cine (Abundantes escenas de acción, humor adulto, efectos especiales, etc.). Pero no hay mucho que esperar más allá de eso y tampoco logra resaltar dentro del cada vez más cargado género de películas de superhéroes.
Venom es una película que personalmente vi sin muchas expectativas. Desde el año de su estreno, sus tráilers no llegaban a captar demasiado mi atención y luego sus malas críticas terminaron de desinteresarme. Sin embargo, una vez que por curiosidad decidí finalmente verla, me di cuenta de que no está tan mal como plantearon muchas personas. La película probablemente chocó con las expectativas de los fans de los cómics, quienes probablemente esperaban otra visión para el personaje, así como quizás más fidelidad a la historia original, lo que generó un disgusto más personal sumado a los fallos que de por sí ya tiene la película. De resto, Venom no llega a estar muy por debajo de la mayoría de películas de acción comerciales, y puede ser tan disfrutable como muchas de ellas.

If you enjoy mainstream American action films, you might like this movie, as it makes good use of the features that make such films appealing (plenty of action scenes, adult humor, special effects, etc.). But there's not much to look forward to beyond that, and it also fails to stand out within the increasingly crowded superhero movie genre.
Venom is a movie that I personally watched without much expectation. Since the year of its release, its trailers did not capture my attention too much and then its bad reviews ended up disinteresting me. However, once I finally decided to see it out of curiosity, I realized that it is not as bad as many people said. The movie probably clashed with the expectations of comic book fans, who probably expected another vision for the character, as well as perhaps more fidelity to the original story, which generated a more personal dislike added to the flaws the movie already has. Otherwise, Venom doesn't come in far below most commercial action films, and can be as enjoyable as many of them.

I watched this movie back when it was released and I enjoyed it. Venom has always been a cool character for me and to watch a movie solely dedicated to it was quite cool. I am looking forward for the new Venom film that will be released later this year.
