Hello, hello dear cinephile people! I hope you are very well. As you know, October is the month of fear and the best time to enjoy horror movies and since it is my favorite genre, today I would like to share with you my 5 classic movies favorites of the genre. Without further ado, let's start.
¡Hola, hola querida gente cinéfila!, espero se encuentren muy bien. Como saben, Octubre es el mes del miedo y la mejor época para disfrutar de películas de terror y como es mi género favorito, hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes mis 5 peliculas clásicas favoritas del género. Sin más que agregar, comencemos.
1) Halloween (1978) / Noche de Brujas (1978)
It has always been one of my favorites since my childhood, it is written and directed by John Carpenter and stars Jamie Lee Curtis in the role of Laurie Strode, who must fight against the masked murderer Michael Myers who escaped from a sanatorium and begins to harass her on Halloween Day. Not only ithe plot is good, also has an excellent photography for the time, the color palette is quite somber so it works perfectly to create a horror atmosphere in the film and also the acting of all the actors is exceptional. In my opinion it is one of my favorite movies for this time, it has had 11 sequels (No. 11 is coming soon) and a 2-part reboot created by Rob Zombie.
Siempre ha sido una de mis favoritas desde mi niñez, está escritay dirigida por John Carpenter y protagonizada por Jamie Lee Curtis en el papel de Laurie Strode, la cual debe luchar contra el asesino enmascarado Michael Myers el cual escapó de un sanatorio y empieza a acosarla el día de Halloween. No sólo la historia es buena, también tiene una fotografía excelente para la época, la paleta de colores es bastante sombría por lo que funciona a la perfección para crear un ambiente de terror en la película y también la actuación de todos los actores es excepcional. En mi opinión es una de mis películas favoritas para esta época, ha tenido 11 secuelas (la No. 11 está próxima a estrenar) y un reboot de 2 partes creado por Rob Zombie.
2) Night Of The Living Dead (1990) / La Noche de los Muertos Vivientes (1990)
It's the first zombie movie I saw and also one of my favorites, it is a remake of the homonymous movie in 1968 and directed by director Tom Savini, it stars Tony Todd as Ben and Patricia Tallman as Barbara. It's about some people who take refuge in an abandoned farm to avoid being devoured by zombies but when the situation becomes desperate they begin to discuss how to deal with the situation. This movie, although at first it had mixed comments, was receiving better opinions as the years went by, personally I like it a lot since it is the one that made me love zombie movies, I really like photography and special effects since for the time the zombies were very well represented and I remember that I was very scared when I saw it as a child. It's one of the things I like to see this Halloween season.
Es la primera película de zombies que ví y también una de mis favoritas, es un remake de la pelicula homónima en 1968 y dirigida por el director Tom Savini, está protagonizada por Tony Todd como Ben y Patricia Tallman como Barbara. Trata sobre unas personas que se refugian en una granja abandonada para evitar ser devorados por zombies pero al tornarse desesperante la situación empiezan a discutir como abordar la situación. Esta pelicula aunque al principio tuvo comentarios mixtos fué recibiendo mejores opiniones al pasar los años, en lo personal me gusta mucho ya que es la que hizo que amara las películas de zombies, me gusta mucho la fotografía y efectos especiales ya que para la época los zombies estaban muy bien representados y recuerdo que a mi me daban mucho miedo cuando la veía de pequeña. Es de las que más me gusta ver en esta temporada de Halloween.
3) Child's Play (1988) / Chucky el Muñeco Diabólico (1988)
Another of my favorite movies from when I was a child, I remember that the first time I saw it I was about 7 years old and it was one of the first movies that I later bought for my collection, it is about a doll possessed by a murderer's soul the which a mother buys for her son Andy without knowing that he comes to life to commit murder. At first Andy was considered a suspect, but the boy knew that the real killer is Chucky. Chucky will start chasing Andy to transfer his soul to the boy's body so Andy, his mother Karen and detective Mike Norris must fight to defeat Chucky before he achieves his goal. In my opinion it's a pretty good movie, it has pretty good photography, as well as the color palette and special effects. The performances were also great and I remember that the movie kept me hooked, it is the one that I still like to enjoy more than anything at this time.
Otra de mis peliculas favoritas de cuando era niña, recuerdo que la primera vez que la ví tenía como 7 años y fué una de las primeras películas que luego compré para mi colección, es acerca de un muñeco poseído por un el alma de un asesino el cual una madre compra para su hijo Andy sin saber que cobra vida para cometer asesinatos. Al principio Andy era considerado como sospechoso, pero el niño sabía que el verdadero asesino es Chucky. Chucky empezará a perseguir a Andy para transferir su alma al cuerpo del niño por lo que Andy, su madre Karen y el detective Mike Norris deben luchas para derrotar a Chucky antes de que este logre su objetivo. En mi opinión es una pelicula bastante buena, tiene una fotografía bastante buena, así como la paleta de colores y los efectos especiales. Las actuaciones también estuvieron geniales y recuerdo que la película me mantenía enganchada, es de las que todavía me gusta disfrutar más que todo en esta época.
4) IT (1990) / ESO: El Payaso Diabólico (1990)
I would say that it is not only my favorite book by Stephen King, who is my favorite writer, but also one of my favorite movies based on his books. Initially released as a 2-part miniseries in 1990, it stars Richard Thomas, John Ritter, Annette O'Toole, Harry Anderson, Dennis Christopher, Tim Reid, and Richard Masur as the seven members of the Losers Club, and Tim Curry as pennywise the clown It's about 7 friends who call themselves "the losers club" who face a killer clown to stop the murders of children and teenagers that are happening in the town, the friends face the clown as children and then as adults 27 years later. I would say that although I loved this movie as a child, it made me afraid of clowns because although this clown initially has a harmless appearance, he turns out to be a horrible monster. The photography and special effects are extraordinary, I really liked the performance of the actors, especially Tim Curry as Pennywise the clown, which really scared me. It is one of the best of the genre and although it has a 2-part remake in which the clown is characterized in a more terrifying way, I think this version scared me more.
Diría que no solamente es mi libro favorito de Stephen King, que es mi escritor favorito sino también una de mis peliculas favoritas basada en sus libros. Lanzada inicialmente como una miniserie de 2 partes en 1990, está prtagonizada por Richard Thomas, John Ritter, Annette O'Toole, Harry Anderson, Dennis Christopher, Tim Reid y Richard Masur como los siete miembros del club de los perdedores, y Tim Curry como el payaso Pennywise. Trata sobre 7 amigos que se hacen llamar "el club de los perdedores" que se enfrentan a un payaso asesino para detener los asesinatos de niños y adolescentes que están ocurriendo en el pueblo, los amigos se enfrentan al payaso siendo niños y luego como adultos 27 años después. Diría que aunque amaba esta pelicula cuando era niña, hizo que le tuviese miedo a los payasos ya que aunque este payaso tiene inicialmente una apariencia inofensiva, resulta ser un horrible monstruo. La fotografía y efectos especiales son extraordinarios, la actuación de los actores me gustó mucho en especial de Tim Curry como el payaso Pennywise el cual realmente me dió bastante miedo. Es una de las mejores del género y aunque cuenta con un remake de 2 partes en las que el payaso es caracterizado de manera más terrorífica, creo que esta versión me dió más miedo.
5) Psycho (1960) / Psicosis (1960)
This is my favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie, it was released in 1960 and it stars Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, John Gavin and Janet Leigh. The story brings us the story of Marion Crane, who runs away after stealing $40,000 from her boss to give to her partner who stops to spend the night at the Bates motel, which is run by a shy young man named Norman who he murdered his mother and kept her corpse, he also developed multiple personality disorder so he assumes his mother's personality and represses her death as a way of not feeling guilty for having murdered her. Norman then murders Marion Crane with a knife in the shower of the room she rents. In my opinion it is a great cinematographic gem, the story is excellent and the performances of Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh are masterful, Norman scares me because he appears to be a young man with a good heart but he has murderous instincts, and in my opinion Anthony embodied him perfectly. The photography is great and the fact that it is in black and white makes it more terrifying.
Esta es mi película favorita de Alfred Hitchcock, fué lanzada en 1960 y está protagonizada por Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, John Gavin y Janet Leigh. La historia nos trae la historia de Marion Crane, la cual huye luego de robarle 40.000 dólares a su jefe para dárselos a su pareja que se detiene a pasar la noche en el motel Bates, el cual es dirigido por un joven tímido llamado Norman el cual asesinó a su madre y conservó su cadáver, también desarrolló trastorno de personalidad múltiple por lo que asume la personalidad de su mamá y reprime su muerte como una forma de no sentir culpa por haberla asesinado. Norman luego asesina a Marion Crane con un cuchillo en la ducha del cuarto que alquila. En mi opinión es una gran joya cinematográfica, la historia es excelente y las actuaciones de Anthony Perkins y Janet Leigh es magistral, Norman me da miedo porque aparenta ser un joven de buen corazón pero tiene instintos asesinos, y en mi opinión Anthony lo encarnó perfectamente. La fotografía es estupenda y el que sea en blanco y negro la hace más terrorífica.

No sabía que buscaba este post hasta que lo vi y lo leí. Obviamente en este mes se recomiendan muchas películas de terror, pero las últimas que he visto no me han gustado en lo absoluto. Por increíble que parezca, de tu lista sólo he visto Psycho (y me gustó) así que voy a colocar las otras cuatro (clásicos del género, sin duda) en mi lista. Buena reseña, felicidades.
