La pandemia del Covid marcó un antes y un después en el mundo, y abrió una ventana enorme a distintas producciones, en el mundo del cine en occidente comenzamos a consumir o al menos tener más acceso a lo que es el cine Ruso, Serbio, Coreano. Si bien no son industrias nuevas, salen del tradicional consumo de Hollywood o Europa occidental, incluso Bollywood, y aunque es subjetivo decir si es positivo o negativo, a mi parecer simplemente se abre una ventana a más contenido.

Al igual que el K-Pop, los dramas coreanos son mundialmente conocidos a día de hoy e incluso una sensación, me atrevería a decir que como el Anime es a Japón, para occidente los dramas coreanos y Doramas, se volvieron un icono del país asiático, y basta con ver obras como el éxito de El Juego del Calamar o Parásitos película ganadora de 6 premios Óscar.

Hoy quiero hablarles de Testigo Inocente, una película de género Drama que se estrenó en 2019 y que si bien puede no sea la mejor película que vas a ver, es una película que sin duda te agradará haber visto; No todas las películas tienen que ser para levantarse y aplaudir, no todas las películas tienen que hacerte llorar o emocionar, hay películas que simplemente están diseñadas para pasar el rato viendo una historia y este es uno de esos casos.
Today I want to talk to you about Innocent Witness, a Drama genre movie that was released in 2019 and while it may not be the best movie you are going to watch, it is a movie that you will definitely be glad you watched; Not all movies have to be to stand up and cheer, not all movies have to make you cry or get emotional, there are movies that are simply designed to hang out watching a story and this is one of those cases.
La premisa no es demasiado complicada, un abogado recibe la oportunidad de defender a una mujer acusada de homicidio, y aunque esta asegura que se trató de un caso de suicidio y todas las pruebas apuntan a esto, la fiscalía acusa basándose en las declaraciones de una única testigo, una joven con autismo que asegura haber visto un ataque hacia la víctima. Dicho esto, el abogado deberá defender a la acusada y desestimar el caso basados en el déficit mental de la testigo, y mientras hace eso ira conociendo de a poco el mundo del autismo, para lograr empaparse del caso.
The premise is not too complicated, a lawyer is given the opportunity to defend a woman accused of murder, and although she claims that it was a case of suicide and all the evidence points to this, the prosecution accuses based on the statements of a single witness, a young woman with autism who claims to have seen an attack on the victim. That said, the lawyer will have to defend the accused and dismiss the case based on the witness' mental deficiency, and while doing so, he will gradually get to know the world of autism, in order to get to know the case.

Algo que me gustó mucho de esta película es que nuestro protagonista se muestra con los problemas de un humano común y a medida que va transcurriendo la película se ve como todas sus decisiones repercuten en su vida y la de quienes le rodean, una película que habla mucho de esto, de la toma de decisiones, de como lo justo no necesariamente es lo correcto y como lo correcto no necesariamente es justo. Y es que sobre el final de la película no es difícil preguntarse, ¿Estoy haciendo lo correcto? ¿Estoy siendo exitoso? ¿A dónde me lleva este camino?, y como bien saben, para mí es increíble cuando una película te deja alguna inquietud en la mente.
Something that I really liked about this film is that our protagonist is shown with the problems of an ordinary human being and as the film goes on we see how all his decisions have repercussions in his life and the lives of those around him, a film that talks a lot about this, about decision making, about how the right thing is not necessarily the right thing and how the right thing is not necessarily fair. And by the end of the film it is not difficult to ask yourself, Am I doing the right thing? Am I being successful? Where is this path taking me? and as you well know, for me it is incredible when a film leaves you with an uneasy feeling in your mind.
Decir que enseña sobre el aspecto autista, es como asegurar que al cerrar los ojos podemos entender a un ciego, y aunque la película tiene algunos prejuicios como que a todos los autistas les gustan los acertijos, también tiene mucho de hacerte entender a las personas con autismo, como pueden llegar a actuar, entender que no es simplemente una enfermedad sino todo lo que esta implica, el cómo intentar poder relacionarte con una persona con autismo, y algo que a mí personalmente me pareció increíble, mostrar en tomas una representación gráfica de como ve el mundo un autista y como percibe su entorno.
To say that it teaches about the autistic aspect, is like assuring that by closing our eyes we can understand a blind man, and although the film has some prejudices such as that all autistic people like riddles, it also has a lot to make you understand people with autism, how they can act, understand that it is not just a disease but all that it implies, how to try to relate to a person with autism, and something that I personally found incredible, showing in shots a graphic representation of how an autistic person sees the world and how he perceives his environment.

Bien, tengo que aclarar en cuanto a la actuación, que muchas veces para entender ciertas actitudes o personajes, ciertas reacciones y formas de actuar, debemos entender parte de la cultura coreana, como por ejemplo lo que significan las relaciones de pareja para los coreanos, lo que implican los rangos o la escala de poder, o como se heredan las deudas en aquella nación.
Well, I have to clarify in terms of acting, that many times to understand certain attitudes or characters, certain reactions and ways of acting, we must understand part of the Korean culture, such as what relationships mean for Koreans, what the ranks or the power scale imply, or how debts are inherited in that nation.

Una vez que logras comprender la situación, te encuentras con actuaciones tan sencillas y personajes tan humanos, que se hace sencillo sentir afinidad con ellos, te hace sentir que es una persona tan real como tú y que estás presenciando una historia que bien podría estar pasándole a un conocido cercano, esto quiere decir que no necesariamente serán personajes que recuerdes, pero a los que puedes tomarle especial cariño.
Once you manage to understand the situation, you find such simple performances and such human characters, that it becomes easy to feel affinity with them, it makes you feel that it is a person as real as you and that you are witnessing a story that could well be happening to a close acquaintance, this means that they will not necessarily be characters that you remember, but to whom you can take special affection.
