Esta película es el debut de la actriz Halle Berry como directora, a demás de protagonizarla en el papel de "Jackie Justice", así que vemos a una mujer comprometida en demostrar sus capacidades. El film cuenta con la participación de luchadoras de la UFC, como también de un reparto de actores que le dieron vida a sus personajes en el film, entre ellos podemos destacar a Sheila Atim como "Bobbi Buddhakan", Adan Canto como "Desi", y Adriane Lenox como "Ángel". La película fue estrenada el pasado año, para un festival internacional de cine, donde fue de interés para Netflix, tiene una duración de 138 minutos. Tuvo fecha de estreno el pasado 17 de noviembre y desde entonces se mantiene en el top 10 de la plataforma. El film nos cuenta la historia de una luchadora quien tras una derrota sale de la luz publica y se mantiene alejada del mundo deportivo hasta la inesperada aparición de quien será su motivación para salir de las sombras y demostrar que aun tiene mucho talento para demostrar en el cuadrilátero.

Bruised nos cuenta la historia de "Jackie Justice", quien es una exitosa luchadora de artes marciales mixtas, pero tras una derrota se ve obligada a dejar atrás su sueño y se dedica a trabajar como servicio de limpieza para la clase alta de su ciudad. Una noche decide ir con su pareja "Desi" a ver una pelea clandestina, donde la retan a pelear y prueban sus limites, obteniendo como resultado el dejar salir el talento que todo ese tiempo estuvo ocultando y todos subestimaban. Esa noche recibe una propuesta de quien seria la oportunidad en persona para volver al cuadrilátero y pulir su talento. "Jackie" decide darse una oportunidad y acepta la propuesta, sin embargo, justo cuando creía que se acercaba la luz al final del túnel para su carrera, llega a su vida la visita de su pequeño hijo de 6 años, a quien había dejado a cargo de su padre luego de su nacimiento, pero tras la muerte abrupta de su padre, no le queda más remedio que buscar a su madre, quien para el pequeño es toda una desconocida. "Manny" es un pequeño que tras haber vivido cosas terribles tiene un trauma que no le permite hablar o confiar en los extraños, como también cada que escucha un fuerte sonido corre a esconderse, en el desarrollo de la trama podemos ver al pequeño actuando de manera evasiva, desesperada y cerrado a establecer vínculos. Con su aparición, "Jackie" se da cuenta que más que nunca debe aprovechar la oportunidad que tiene en puerta y a pesar de sus rechazos, comienza a sentir un vinculo con su pequeño hijo, lo que incluso la lleva a salir de su relación toxica y abrirse a la posibilidad con "Buddhaken" su entrenadora. Antes de la pelea para el campeonato que tanto estuvo entrenando, "Jackie" decide terminar con "Buddhaken" buscando organizar su vida, luego de descubrir que fue reclutada y la oferta fue solo para preparar a su contrincante y que se luciera en la pelea, la lleva a un momento oscuro, donde recuerda su pasada derrota la cual la llevó a perderse en el alcohol y alejarse del deporte, como consecuencia de esta reacción, "Jackie" aleja a "Manny" cuando este intenta acercase, provocando su huida a casa de "Ángel" su madre, quien le dice que no le dará a "Manny" hasta que se estabilice y ponga su vida en orden. Al final de esta película vemos a "Jackie" perder la pelea, sin embargo, esta vez no se sintió humillada, sintió orgullo por haber logrado un gran progreso y haber salido de las sombras, recuperando su seguridad, "Jackie" logra reconciliarse con "Buddhaken" y a su hijo, quien por primera vez le habla y demuestra que ya confía en ella.

Before the fight for the championship that he was training so much, "Jackie" decides to finish with "Buddhaken" looking to organize his life, after discovering that she was recruited and the offer was only to prepare her opponent and to shine in the fight, takes her to a dark moment, where she remembers her past defeat which led her to lose herself in alcohol and move away from sport. Bruised es una película entretenida que recomiendo añadir a la lista para ver el fin de semana, aquí vemos el gran desempeño de Halle Berry y sus increíbles cambios físicos para la película, demostrando su compromiso y profesionalismo, sin embargo, la película ha sido criticada por no estar a la altura. Personalmente opino que es una película un poco larga, sin embargo, al ser entretenida se deja ver, pero no le quita que tenga escenas innecesarias o un poco tediosas, pero fuera de eso, me gustó, siempre me gusta disfrutar de las actuaciones de grandes artistas como lo es Halle Berry y ver su desempeño en los distintos géneros cinematográficos.
Bruised is an entertaining film that I recommend adding to the list to see at the weekend, here we see the great performance of Halle Berry and her incredible physical changes for the film, demonstrating her commitment and professionalism, however, the film has been criticized by not living up to it. Personally, I think that it is a bit long film, however, being entertaining, it can be seen, but it does not mean that it has unnecessary or a bit tedious scenes, but other than that, I liked it, I always like to enjoy the performances of greats artists such as Halle Berry and see her performance in different film genres.
