A Film that has impressed me again after 25 years!
Rarely does it happen that after a long time has passed, you happen to see a movie again and even though you know what happens, it strikes you again. Well, that happened to me this Sunday afternoon. When I went through several channels, I saw that a film was just starting and I was really attracted to it, I don't know if it was because I hadn't seen it for so long, because I couldn't even recognize the main character hahaha. It is strange this situation, to see a film again as if it was the first time and so it happened to me. So I will tell you about my experience this week.

Raras veces sucede que luego de haber transcurrido mucho tiempo, casualmente vuelves a ver una película y a pesar de saber lo que sucede, te vuelve a impactar. Pues eso me ha pasado a mí este domingo en la tarde. Al pasearme por varios canales, vi que estaba recién comenzando un filme y en verdad me sentí atraído por este, no sé si por el hecho de tener tanto tiempo sin verla, porque incluso no lograba reconocer a su protagonista jajaja. Es extraña esta situación, de volver a ver una obra del cine como si fuese la primera vez y así me sucedió. Por lo que paso a comentarles mi experiencia de esta semana.

They take him to a vehicle where they distract the innocent girl with headphones, to prevent her from listening to the strange and criminal mission they entrust him with and whose price, if he does not succeed in his mission, is the life of his little girl. Something that is simply chilling to imagine.
For this, they give him a gun and give him a time limit, marking an exact hour where a very important person will appear, so the young and confused father must take a life to save the life of his little daughter, an abomination that elevates the drama of this excellent film production to unthinkable levels.

Trama desarrollada inicialmente en una estación de tren, donde caminan muchas personas y donde una pareja de supuestos agentes del gobierno observan insistentemente un reloj en la pared y cuidadosamente a los cientos de transeúntes que ocupan el lugar, como intentando escoger a sus víctimas, ¿pero víctimas de qué?
Mientras transcurren los minutos y van descartando sus aparentes opciones, observan a un joven padre soltero con su pequeña hija, e inmediatamente notan su actitud protectora hacia su tesoro más preciado. Por lo que no dudan en acercarse y abordarlo. Lo llevan hasta un vehículo donde distraen a la inocente niña con unos auriculares, para evitar que escuche la extraña y criminal misión que le encomiendan y cuyo precio, sino realiza con éxito su cometido, es la vida de su pequeña. Algo que sencillamente es escalofriante de solo imaginar.
Para esto, le entregan un arma y le dan un límite de tiempo, marcando una hora exacta donde una persona muy importante hará acto de presencia, por lo cual el joven y confundido padre debe quitar una vida para salvar la de su hijita, toda una abominación que eleva a niveles impensados el drama de esta excelente producción cinematográfica.

With the pleasant sensation of remembering scenes and situations that seemed a vague memory, but now take their place again in the sea of neurons hahaha. And while our strange anonymous hero was trying to talk to someone, that malevolent character appeared, dressed as a state security agent, who harassed him and made him remember his crazy and fateful mission. When he arrived at the hotel where he was to meet this peculiar victim, he opened the envelope to realize that it was an important public figure in the world of politics. Just here, I remembered the dark character of the Joker in The Dark Knight, when based on blackmail similar to this one, he forced innocent people to become unthinkable victimizers. What a new meaning this movie has had, after so many years.
Toda esta extraña situación, me envolvió de tal manera, que en apenas pasados 10 minutos, no pude despegarme de la pantalla, a pesar de que ahora si he recordado el filme, me he quedado enganchado para disfrutarla una vez más. Con la grata sensación de rememorar escenas y situaciones que parecían un vago recuerdo, pero que ahora vuelven a tomar su sitio en el mar de neuronas jajaja. Y mientras nuestro extraño héroe anónimo intentaba hablar con alguien, aparecía ese personaje malévolo, vestido de agente de seguridad estatal, quien lo acosaba y le hacía recordar su descabellada y fatídica misión. Cuando este llega al hotel donde debe encontrarse con esa peculiar víctima, es que abre el sobre para darse cuenta de que se trata de una persona importante figura pública en el mundo de la política. Justamente acá, recordé al oscuro personaje del guasón en el Caballero de la noche, cuando a base de chantajes parecidos a este, obligaba a personas inocentes a convertirse en impensados victimarios. Vaya que nuevo significado ha tenido esta película, después de tantos años.

Well, our protagonist goes through several situations that put him so much tension that we seem to sweat him with so much drama hahaha. He needs to talk to someone but he doesn't know who to talk to, he can't find anyone he can trust and the danger his daughter is in is increasing. But out of nowhere and being the least imagined, he manages to get in a humble shoeshine boy, his best friend and ally.

Pues nuestro protagonista pasa por diversas situaciones que le ponen tanta tensión que parecemos sudar él con tanto drama jajaja. Él necesita hablar con alguien pero no sabe con quién, no consigue a nadie en quien confiar y el peligro que corre su hija es cada vez mayor. Pero de la nada y siendo el menos imaginado, logra conseguir en un humilde limpiabotas, a su mejor amigo y aliado.

Moving action scenes surprise us when we discover that the criminal mastermind behind the murder is close to the victim himself, but even though they don't get away with it, they don't pay for their crimes. In other words, the film fulfills its objectives of making our minds wander, in identifying and relating this situation to real life events.
Nevertheless, our good friend Mr. Watson decides to do the right thing, putting at risk the only love of his life (his daughter) but refuses to be a murderer. With glee we watch as some justice is done when father and daughter meet again, after 75 interminable minutes and his now best friend, the humble shoeshine boy and new hero, helps him and even saves his life.

La emoción es desbordante, las dudas de si sería capaz de asesinar a alguien por salvar a su ser más querido lleva al televidente, de manera inevitable, a imaginarse ¿Qué haríamos en su caso?
Movidas escenas de acción nos sorprenden cuando descubrimos que la mente criminal que planea todo este magnicidio, es allegado a la propia víctima, pero a pesar de que no logran salirse con la suya, tampoco pagan por sus delitos. Lo que también nos hace recordar el cruel asesinato público del presidente Kennedy. Es decir, el filme cumple sus objetivos de hacer divagar nuestra mente, en la identificación y relación de esta situación con hechos de la vida real.
No obstante, nuestro buen amigo el Sr. Watson, decide hacer lo correcto, poniendo en riesgo al único amor de su vida (su hija) pero se niega a ser un asesino. Con regocijo vemos como se hace cierta justicia cuando padre e hija se encuentran nuevamente, después de 75 minutos interminables y que su ahora mejor amigo, el humilde limpiabotas y nuevo héroe, le ayuda y hasta le salva la vida.

Afortunadamente, tuvimos un final feliz. Aunque Watson, interpretado excelentemente por Johnny Deep, si fue capaz de matar por salvar a su hijita, pero lo hizo precisamente con quien en realidad lo merecía, Mr. Smith, el asesino y secuestrador villano, personificado por el gran actor Christopher Walken.
Curiosamente, luego de ver ayer esta entretenida película y recordar tantos hechos develados de corrupción, fraudulentos y criminales por parte de políticos inescrupulosos, llega a mi mente la impresión de lo pertinente de este filme, que nos inquieta ante esta nueva y no tan nueva realidad oscura y nauseabunda de las cúpulas podridas que dirigen países y se creen sus únicos dueños.
