I have mixed feelings about this movie, there are things about the movie that I liked, it has a great cast, the cinematography and the design of the ships, but there are other things that I didn't like, especially the pacing part of the story that failed to hook me. They focused on trying to impress visually, but I think they neglected the story a bit. Being created as a prequel to Alien, I was expecting something more shocking and exciting.
It's true, the action takes a while to start, perhaps they took a lot of time on the theoretical. Although there was fidelity with respect to the engineer's ships (the same ones seen in the first installment and I liked that) and with the space jockey (although the previous one was much bigger).
And as I said in the post, it had a lot to be one of the best movies, but it had a compromise and limitation, for being the first prequel of the saga. I think if they had changed that raison d'être and redirected it to something new, independent of the Alien theme, they would have succeeded.
A mi me gustó mucho esta saga que comenzó con Prometeus, pero el rumb que tomó fue horrible, la película fue muy original, aunque tiempo después me di cuenta que tiene la misma premisa de la primera película de alien Vs depredador. Es igual en muchos aspectos. El problema fue que en la segunda pélícula se alejaron totalmente de la propuesta de Prometeus y así quedó como inconclusa. Ridley Scott no sabe que hacer con su producto, quien sabe por qué.. Espero que puedan hacer una película que continúe y explique todo lo que se vió en Prometeus!

Todo depende de la óptica con la que vemos la historia; de mi parte veo a Prometheus como la precuela de Alien "el octavo pasajero". Recuerdo que la aventura del Nostromo transcurre en el año 2122 (casualmente a 100 años de este año actual jajaja).
En cambio, la nave Prometeo inició su viaje en un eventual 2089 y llegan a LV-223 en 2093. Entonces se trata del inicio de la saga de Alien, por ello indico en el post que no es para todos los públicos y que la naturaleza de ser la explicación de cómo comenzó el apocalipsis de los aliens.

De hecho es así como funciona, como una precuela. Sin embargo el producto no fue entendido en su tiempo, porque la gente y la crítica solo querían ver aliens matando personas. Esta precuela iba a explicar el origen de los xenomorfos pero iba tomando otro rumbo, más filosófico y simbólico. Pero a las personas le gusta lo facil en el entretenimiento.
Cierto, la mayoría de las veces de prefiere lo fácil.
Aunque mirando en retrospectiva, en Prometheus podemos observar quizás al primer parásito atrapa-caras (gigantesco por cierto) y este insemina en el ingeniero, lo que sería el primer xenomorfo; pero quizás solo los primeros con ADN humano, porque en la nave alienígena, tenían una especie de imagen o pintura del Alien. Entonces se trata de una entidad más antigua.
Ciertamente, hay mucho enredo para presentar la trama y no se puede digerir a la primera.
