Holii, como saben, ya empezó la Spooky Season y no hay mejor manera de iniciarla que viendo los clásicos de Halloween, en esta oportunidad le di la bienvenida a mi época favorita del año con la secuela de uno de los clásicos de Disney que más atesoro en mi infancia, Hocus Pocus o, como se conoce acá en Latinoamérica, Abracadabra.
Abracadabra me encanta, es una de mis películas favoritas de Spooky Disney y siempre esperaba con ansias esta temporada para verla en la tv cada vez que la transmitieran, desde el primer momento tuve un crush con Sarah, de hecho, me identifico mucho con ese personaje.
Hiii, as you know, the Spooky Season has started and there is no better way to kick it off than watching the Halloween classics, this time I welcomed my favorite time of the year with the sequel to one of the Disney classics I treasure the most from my childhood, Hocus Pocus.
I love Hocus Pocus, it's one of my favorite Spooky Disney movies and I always looked forward to this season to watch it on TV every time it was aired, from the very first moment I had a crush on Sarah, in fact, I identify myself a lot with that character.
Cuando supe que harían una secuela de este gran clásico, debo admitir que, no le tuve mucha esperanza o expectativas, con los sucesos que han estado ocurriendo con Disney últimamente, la verdad que le he perdido mucha fe o entusiasmo a las producciones que han estado estrenando recientemente; cada vez que anuncian algo nuevo, solo espero a ver qué tipo de polémica se desatará por ese estreno y termino viendo el material cuando no tengo nada mejor que hacer.
Siento que Disney ha perdido el toque mágico que antes lo caracterizaba tanto y que nos emocionaba a todos cada vez que anunciaba una producción nueva, esto mismo me ocurrió cuando supe de esta secuela, más bien, me molesté un poco porque se estaban metiendo con un clásico que atesoro mucho y si lo dañaban, iba a decepcionarme mucho más de Disney.
When I heard that they would make a sequel to this great classic, I must admit that I didn't have much hope or expectations, with the events that have been happening with Disney lately, the truth is that I have lost much faith or enthusiasm to the productions that have been released recently; every time they announce something new, I just wait to see what kind of controversy will be unleashed by that release and I end up watching the material when I have nothing better to do.
I feel that Disney has lost the magic touch that used to characterize it so much and that got us all excited every time they announced a new production, this same thing happened to me when I heard about this sequel, rather, I was a little upset because they were messing with a classic that I treasure so much and if they damaged it, I was going to be much more disappointed in Disney.
Al empezar la película, las pocas expectativas que tenía se fueron al caño, solo veía un escenario de presupuesto mínimo, unas actrices jóvenes intentando imitar a las hermanas Sanderson y otra vez el mismo recurso de contarnos la historia de un personaje "malvado" para darle redención; admito que sí me gustó que explicarán cómo llego Libro a las manos de Winifred y como todas obtuvieron sus poderes.
Pasan los años y estamos en el presente, nos muestran a unas chicas que, desde el primer momento, nos dan a entender que tienen un conflicto amistoso; estos personajes se suponen que son los protagonistas, pero ni siquiera me acuerdo de sus nombres de lo irrelevantes que fueron, básicamente, su presencia dentro del film fue netamente por conveniencias del guion, fueron recursos que sirven para que la historia avance y tenga un sentido.
At the beginning of the movie, the few expectations I had went down the drain, I only saw a minimal budget scenario, some young actresses trying to imitate the Sanderson sisters and again the same resource of telling us the story of an "evil" character to give him redemption; I admit that I did like that they explained how Book got into Winifred's hands and how they all got their powers.
Years go by and we are in the present, we are shown some girls who, from the first moment, give us to understand that they have a friendly conflict; these characters are supposed to be the main characters, but I don't even remember their names because of how irrelevant they were, basically, their presence in the film was purely for the convenience of the script, they were resources that serve to advance the story and make sense.
Las hermanas Sanderson no se tardan mucho en aparecer, eso me gustó bastante y me encantó aún más que su primera puesta en escena sea con un número musical porque eso es algo ya muy característico de ellas.
Amé como no tienen idea de que no se sintiera que han pasado casi 30 años desde la primera película, las actuaciones de Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker y Kathy Najimy son increíbles y se sienten esa misma esencia.
The Sanderson sisters don't take long to show up, I liked that a lot and I loved even more that their first staging is with a musical number because that's already something very characteristic of them.
I loved how they have no idea that it didn't feel like almost 30 years have passed since the first movie, the performances of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy are amazing and you feel that same essence.
Esta misma esencia fue lo que hizo que la protagonista de esta entrega no tuviera ningún tipo de luz o foco, toda la atención se las llevaron las hermanas Sanderson y gracias a eso es que la película es TAN buena porque, si hablamos objetivamente, absolutamente nada cambia; sigue siendo el mismo concepto de un virgen despierta a las brujas en noche de Halloween y estas intentan absorber el alma de los niños para poder sobrevivir al amanecer; lo único que cambia en esta son un par de detalles que le dan un EXCELENTE cierre de personaje a estas hermanas.
Al inicio de la película te presentan a la bruja que le regaló o entregó el Libro a Winnie, esta bruja le advierte que no debe usar el hechizo supremo mas no le explica el porqué; esta bruja también hace mención de la importancia del Aquelarre para una bruja y que esta perdió el suyo hace mucho tiempo, este detalle es de suma importancia para entender el final de las hermanas.
This same essence was what made the protagonist of this installment not to have any kind of light or spotlight, all the attention was taken by the Sanderson sisters and thanks to that is why the movie is SO good because, if we talk objectively, absolutely nothing changes; it is still the same concept of a virgin wakes up the witches on Halloween night and these try to absorb the souls of children in order to survive the dawn; the only thing that changes in this one are a couple of details that give an EXCELLENT character closure to these sisters.
At the beginning of the movie you are introduced to the witch who gave the Book to Winnie, this witch warns her not to use the supreme spell but she doesn't explain why; this witch also mentions the importance of the Coven for a witch and that she lost hers a long time ago, this detail is very important to understand the end of the sisters.
Cuando Winnie decide hacer el hechizo supremo, durante el conjuro pide que los poderes se le otorguen a ella en particular, sin incluir a sus hermanas; el hechizo tiene una advertencia, ni Winnie ni sus hermanas leyeron la cuál decía que el poder se debe compartir o el precio a pagar será lo que tú más valoras.
Al finalizar el conjuro, Sarah y Mary empiezan a desvanecerse hasta solo quedar una estela brillante de ellas, esto le afecta demasiado a Winnie debido a que sus hermanas es lo que más le importa en el mundo, incluso por encima de sus poderes a los cuales renuncia con tal de recuperar a sus hermanas; le implora a Libro como a Becca (tuve que investigar el nombre porque de verdad no lo recordaba) que le devuelva a sus hermanas sin importar el perder sus poderes, Becca logra a ayudarla, mas no de la forma como Winnie pensaba; esta desaparece también con una sonrisa en su rostro porque se reunirá con sus hermanas, ¿dónde? eso no lo sabemos.
When Winnie decides to cast the supreme spell, during the incantation she asks that the powers be given to her in particular, not including her sisters; the spell has a warning, neither Winnie nor her sisters read which said that the power must be shared or the price to pay will be what you value the most.
At the end of the spell, Sarah and Mary begin to fade away until only a glowing trail of them remains, this affects Winnie too much because her sisters are what matters most to her in the world, even above her powers which she gives up in order to get her sisters back; She implores Book as Becca (I had to investigate the name because I really didn't remember it) to give her back her sisters no matter if she loses her powers, Becca manages to help her, but not in the way Winnie thought; she also disappears with a smile on her face because she will be reunited with her sisters, where? we don't know.

Esto, para mí, es un cierre magnifico para las hermanas, aunque me hubiese gustado darle más importancia a Sarah como a Mary y no desaparecerlas así sin más.
Esto da paso a la "nueva era" para las brujas debido a que Becca tiene poderes también y el final de esta secuela es abierto, dando a entender que pueden traer a otras brujas o traer a la bruja del principio, la que le dio a Winnie el Libro.
This, for me, is a magnificent closure for the sisters, although I would have liked to give more importance to Sarah as well as Mary and not just disappear them just like that.
This gives way to the "new era" for the witches because Becca has powers as well and the ending of this sequel is open, implying that they can bring in other witches or bring in the witch from the beginning, the one who gave Winnie the Book.
Seré sincera, considero que con este cierre está bien, hacer una tercera película de Hocus Pocus es demasiado; entiendo que quieran adeptos nuevos pero, con lo que ha hecho Disney con distintos clásicos, no le tengo mucha fe.

I'll be honest, I think that with this closure it's fine, making a third Hocus Pocus movie is too much; I understand that they want new fans but, with what Disney has done with different classics, I don't have much faith in it.

Hola amiga, vi el trailer de esta película y de verdad que me llamo mucho la atención, además cuando estaba pequeño vi la primera y fue un éxito, claro no entendí mucho, pero me gusto por la temática de halloween, ademas nunca me espere que sacaran la dos, así que la voy a notar para ver este fin de semana. Me alegro de que hayas disfrutado de la misma, saludos.
Recomendadisima, no es un desperdicio en lo absoluto; te vas a reír y te vas a emocionar porque es, básicamente, un homenaje bien hecho a la primera película. La verdad es que a mí me encantó y, de hecho, creo que la volveré a ver esta noche.

I haven't gotten to see it yet, I just hope it's as entertaining as the first one. I've read other reviews, most have been positive. I have about three movies scheduled for the weekend, I hope I have time to watch it and then I'll let you know what I thought.
The movie, truly, is excellent because it pays homage to the first installment very well; I feel that the Sanderson sisters have that essence or spark that characterized them so much from the beginning and, as I said, they gave an excellent closure to their characters.

Fue genial ver a las hermanas Sanderson de nuevo, y comparto tu opinión respecto a muchas cosas, aprecié el inicio en el pasado explicando el génesis de sus poderes, etc...
No obstante, para mí dejó un poco que desear la película en general, intenta muchas cosas y no todas aterrizan bien, me quedo con la original.

Esta pelicula desde muy pequeña fue una de mis favoritas en halloween!! siempre esperaba el dia en que la pasaran por disneychannel en abracadubre!! jajaja todavia no he tenido la oportunidad de verla, pero tengo muchas ganas de que mi hija la veo conmigo... al principio cuando vi el trailer, no quise saber cual seria el rol de las tres chicas, pero ahora que dices que luego que aparecen las hermanas Sanderson todo comienza a girar entorno a ellas, se que me gustara mucho... porque desde el comienzo, siempre quise que se tratara solo de ellas, pues son las protagonistas principales desde la primera pelicula y no debian quitarle eso para esta segunda. Gracias por esta reseña, ahora se que no me llevare una mala sorpresa a la hora de verla.
Es increíble, también esperaba con ansias el abracadubre de Disney porque siempre pasaban mis pelis favoritas y entre ellas está, obviamente, Abracadabra; esta es uno de los clásicos de Disney que me sé de memoria y aún así las veo y veo hasta que las dejen de transmitir.
Como fan de Hocus Pocus te digo que esta película es muy buena y un muy bien final para las hermanas Sanderson, tuvo esos detalles que comenté acá pero son cosas que se pueden pasar por alto porque, de verdad, vale la peli totalmente; de hecho, voy a ir a verla de nuevo porque me encantó.

La primera sin lugar a dudas se volvio un clásico, por lo menos esta segunda parte se explican algunas cosas más y es entretenida. @ladyunicorn
