As we grow older and acquire more responsibilities it is more difficult to get together with friends, and making time sometimes is one of the most difficult things, I think that something that greatly affected this action was the culmination of the pandemic, it seems that everything accumulated and fell together to avoid having fortuitous and quiet meetings. However, after a lot of planning, I have achieved with my friends the goal: a meeting of girls in the final season of the month of terror. We did many things, but the best was the movie marathon, where one of them seemed very interesting to me, so for this occasion I will talk about: The Exorcism of God.
Mientras vamos creciendo y adquiriendo más responsabilidades es más difícil reunirnos entre amigos, y sacar tiempo a veces es de la cosas más difíciles, considero que algo que afectó mucho esta acción fue la culminación de la pandemia, pareciera que todo se acumuló y cayó junto para evitar tener encuentros fortuitos y tranquilos. Sin embargo, después de mucha planeación he logrado junto a mis amigas el cometido: reunión de chicas en temporada final del mes de terror. Hicimos muchas cosas, pero lo mejor fue el maratón de películas, dónde una de ellas me pareció muy interesante, por eso para esta ocasión les hablaré sobre: El exorcismo de Dios.

When I saw the first posters and news of this movie it honestly gave me chills, its title is enough to make me feel that everything is wrong. Time passed and I figured a sleepover was the perfect occasion to give such a production a chance, now I'm between the tightrope of whether I'd rather forget about it or keep it in a folder in my brain classified as apubullante.

Pasó el tiempo y supuse que una pijamada era la ocasión perfecta para darle una oportunidad a tal producción, ahora estoy entre la cuerda floja de si prefiero olvidarla o mantenerla en una carpeta de mi cerebro clasificada como apubullante.
Both the cover and the title do justice to the internal content and plot of the film, but it is the indelicacy of the events and the bizarreness of certain facts that could upset the more religious, it is definitely not a film for all audiences, very sensitive people or people with an ingrained faith should not even think of giving it a look.

Now recapping on each scene I must say that the makeup work pretty good, and the acting of the main actor left a good impression on me, but there is one scene that just won't leave my mind, an exorcism to get God out of you, I think that blew away the tranquility I had during the first half, maybe it's because of the Christian influence I grew up in, but I won't deny that such scene made my hands shaking with nerves for feeling that it wasn't right that.
Ahora recapitulando en cada escena debo decir que el trabajo de maquillaje bastante bueno, y la actuación del actor principal me dejó una buena impresión, pero hay una escena que simplemente no sale de mi mente, un exorcismo para sacar a Dios de ti, creo que eso me voló la tranquilidad que tuve durante la primera mitad, quizás es por la influencia cristiana en la que crecí, pero no voy a negar que tal escena me hizo temblar las manos de los nervios por sentir que no estaba bien eso.
I could say it's sacrilege, and a film full of morbidity and perversion, you'd like to say it's forgettable, but it has something that leaves you thinking over and over again.

We are all aware that nowadays it is quite difficult to find a film in the horror category that exceeds expectations, although for me this film is more between suspense and religion, and I will not deny that it is total blasphemy.

The Exorcism of God narrates the life of a priest and all his suffering for allowing himself to be possessed by a demon called Balban [demon of deception] that brings misfortune to a small town in Mexico when he attacks children and makes them sick until they die. The film tells from the beginning what is the link between the priest and the demon and how after that he leads a false life pretending that nothing happened by trying to deal with a possession by himself and failing, managing to fall into torment and almost madness when years later the demon returns to attack who he considered his enemy.
El exorcismo de Dios nos narra la vida de un sacerdote y todo su sufrimiento por dejarse poseer por un demonio llamado Balban [demonio del engaño] que trae desgracias a un pequeño pueblo de México cuando ataca a los niños enfermandolos hasta morir. The film touches on many common themes within the classic exorcism films, also the influence of past films such as The Exorcist and Constantine is very noticeable, this takes away a certain touch of originality to all its exposure, but you can not expect much when the director himself has said that this was a way to pay homage to his beginnings in the world of horror.

I perceived this film as a direct thrust to the heart of the Vatican and all the scandals they have kept for years pretending to be men of God, was there a need to use a Christ so lightly? I don't think so, however, in the voice of the director's vision, freedom of expression and the art of cinema, the final path is this: a production full of a total brand of spittle towards corruption within the churches, discrimination, abuse of power, and the most scandalous, sexual abuse of entities that should represent trust and care.

This film made me think a lot about the blind trust towards believing in something and how human beings blur the boundaries when something stops being a belief and becomes an obsession. There are many gaps that leave the viewer worse off than when the film began and an ending that can be both forgettable and open-ended. If religious themes are your thing you will find it easy to understand much of what is exposed in the film, but if you are a believer run away, certain dialogues are nothing more than blasphemy.
Hay muchos huecos que dejan al televidente peor que cuando comenzó el film y un final que puede ser tanto olvidable cómo abierto. I feel the script lacked work, but for a Latin American film, it left a big mark on me and the general public. The whole plot is predictable except for the ending, and for being a "homage" the film is more of a good opportunity to have a flashback of a film that has been seen before.

On the other hand, as I mentioned before, the make-up work is exquisite, in each of the possessed, a first class job that creates strong emotions in the viewer, but that at times is ruined by the very basic CGI and in certain scenes grotesque, causing some moments to be very dark just to cover up its flaws.

Me gustó mucho tu analisis detallado de la película punto por punto sin dejar nada por fuera, gracias a él me doy cuenta de que ciertamente no puedo ver esta película, a pesar de que soy amante incorregible del genero terror y llevaba mucho tiempo queriendo ver este film, sin embargo hay cosas que me molestan de él (sí, soy creyente, aunque no una fanática) pero pienso que muchas veces el hombre vuelca en Dios todas las culpas de los hombres, por ejemplo, si la iglesia católica (los hombres que la dirigen) han hecho desmanes por años no es culpa de Dios, cada quien debe asumir las consecuencias de lo que hace, al menos en mi opinión, pero casi siempre caemos en el error de culpar a Dios o a las diversas religiones de lo que hacen los hombres, sean de la religión que sean (Cristianos, musulmanes, taotistas, shintoistas budistas o hinduistas)
Tal como dijiste, el director recurrió a recursos ya antes utilizados en films anteriores como una especie de guiño, imagino que así fue porque hay películas como El Exorcista donde recurren al abuso de blasfemias y sacrilegios solo para levantar polémica y que la gente hable del film por un buen tiempo.

Hola, hace meses empecé a ver esta película con mi esposo y concuerdo contigo en la primera escena donde el demonio en el cuerpo de la mujer se expone de tal manera que se ve vulgar, pero es el demonio y el sacerdote cayó. Luego de eso creo que perdí el interés y no la seguí viendo.

No esta mal la verdad, hace tiempo vi una resena de esta pelicula y cuando le di una oportunidad y la vi realmente me gusto bastante en especial porque ademas del conclifcto en que sumerge al aspector entra de por medio la dualidad del ser ante el placer y el deber, me gusto como todo fue dirigido para un final bastante interesante y cuestionable, saludos.
Ese final medio abierto es extraño, me agradó un poco la falta de esperanza certera, porque en sí un mundo lleno de tantos demonios no puede terminar tan feliz como en los cuento de los Warren, pero aquí, aunque tiene vacíos, supieron colocar argumentos para dejar al espectador muy choqueado.

A ver, este film más allá del terror y la trama, tiene sus mensajes muy caros y directos, como ya lo has dicho. El Vaticano siempre tendrá a disposición cualquier herramienta para seguir en el poder. Es como la guerra, no habría armas si no hubiesen conflictos. Lo mismo sucede con el catolicismo y aquí se ve: "no importa que hayas sido poseído, te confiesas y listo... es un plan del demonio". Esto, solo en el caso de que existan las posesiones; en el otro lado tenemos las maravillosas excusas en donde caemos en lo mismo: "¿Pecaste? Tranquilo, no pasa nada, confiésate y ya". Ahí es donde llega tu pregunta: ¿Dónde está Dios?, ¿Es acaso un método para doblegar al mundo?, ¿Él en realidad aceptaría eso? y más aun, si tanto nos ama ¿Dejarían que sacaran de sus hijos, la fe y el amor por él?
Ay, no, siento que aquí hay mucha tela por cortar y se sale del tema principal: la película. Y volviendo a ella, sí, fue muy buena, logró impactarme y asustarme varias veces, y eso que la vi a plena luz del día.

Es una cuestión complicada, las doctrinas excéntricas de las religiones han creado tantas excusas para creer que allí está Dios, que en realidad se puede dudar en todo momento. De igual manera, el bien no existe sin el mal y viceversa, pero de allí a "exzorsizar" a Dios de un hombre, me quedé flipando. La iglesia católica es ciertamente quizás la que más secretos guarda y es muy curioso todo, pero sí, el film deja mucho qué pensar, sobre todo su final en donde claramente todo el mundo queda más poseído que el mismo diablo.
No me dió tanto miedo sus escenas, me perturbó más los argumentos planteados, deja mucho qué pensar, gracias por leer.
