ALICE (Movie review)

Hi Hivers, I trust you had a beautiful day....
This is my first post in this community and I'm glad to be here.

So, yesterday was my birthday and I was alone at home bored. After watching "The in between" recommended by @wolfofnostreet I was really emotional and felt like watching a movie about crime, I saw a perfect crime thriller "Alice" and decided to go for it.

Here's my review 😊
Alice is a crime thriller written by Krystin Ver Linden staring Keke Palmer as the lead female character, Jonny Lee Miller, Common, Gaius Charles and Alicia Witt.
Alice was inspired by true events, real life history of Black Americans who were still enslaved after the Emancipation proclamation.
The proclamation in 1863 was supposed to put an end to slavery but some whites continued to keep blacks enslaved.

Alice and her family were kept captive by their "owner" (captor) in his 55 acre plantation and made to do hard labor under harsh conditions.
After getting into a fight with her captor she manages to escape and ends up on the highway, in the year 1973, discovering the shocking reality that exists beyond the tree line.
Alice meets a nice man named "Frank" that takes her to the hospital. Finding out the hospital would take her to a lab for experiments he offered her shelter and with his help she Freed her family and burnt down the plantation, reuniting with her parents and husband.

When Keke Palmer released a statement about the movie, she wrote, "so many films that depict this time in our history are rooted in the victimization of the Black female lead. This story is the opposite and that's what attracted me to Krytin's perspective. Alice tackles the harsh realities of slavery and white supremacy while also offering inspiration and vindication through the story of Alice's journey. I don't want anyone to leave the theater feeling debilitated, I want them to feel empowered."

This movie is an inspiration to Africans and the world at large, determination would definitely take you anywhere.
Like the saying "where there is a will, there's a way."

Thanks for reading till the end ☺️❤️
