So I'm not sure if this is your weekend movie, because it doesn't only represent comedy, but transitions and negative or strong contexts of life. A wonderful production that combines sarcasm, bad decisions, emotional wounds and earthly angels to hook the audience. Honestly from my side, when I decided to watch the movie I thought:
"This is Melissa McCarthy here, she must be just exquisite when it comes to comedy." But, the truth stirs up your sentimental part a bit.
We are used to seeing Melissa McCarthy in a very humorous role where she is especially the center of attention and represents extremely happy characters, as is the case in the film "Tammy" or in "Spy: a clueless spy". However, this time we see Melissa McCarthy giving life to a somewhat different role, where she reincarnates Maggie. She is an elderly lady who is deceived by her husband, initiates a divorce and has just moved to a new place to start a different life next to her son Oliver. A new life that she must build based on long hours of work and dealing with episodes of absence in the life of her son.
In the new house she has Vincent as a neighbor, represented by the famous Bill Murray, who was a very old man who had a messy and bitter life. From the outset, at the time of Maggie's move, the moving service breaks a branch of a tree and at the same time it falls on Vicent's car. There he begins a noisy relationship, which is reaffirmed when the next day Oliver goes to the new school and suffers from attacks by his classmates, they steal his clothes, mobile phone, wallet and house keys. Unfortunately, the child cannot enter his own house and the mother is still at work, so she asks Vicent to allow her to make a call. The mother worries about what happened and asks Vicent if she can take care of him, paying for every hour that she babysits.
Vincent, since he needs the money, accepts the job. And for a while he shares with the child, he discovers that he is a child who needs support and direction, just like himself. Despite being an elderly man, he had the bad vices of being an alcoholic, a gambler, a smoker and frequenting a prostitute. Vincent's life was very lonely, his wife had Alzheimer's and she was admitted to a special asylum, where the evil and disorder had begun.
Oliver's life and Vincent's intersect to establish a beautiful relationship of friends, the boy realizing that his aged friend had more "holy" characteristics than any other person he has known. During the plot, Vincent's unscrupulous life leads him to suffer a stroke, a fact that makes him see the life he has left a little better.
The truth, the film is painted in the Comedy genre, however it has strong touches of life contexts that make anyone break. The performance of Melissa McCarthy, Bill Murray and Jaeden Martell (Oliver) are applaudable, they seem such defined characters within the story that they make you forget for a moment that it's just acting.
In terms of considerations of script, dialogue and environment, there are no complaints, everything is in tune in terms of the development of the story and shows possible sides of life. The scenes are in a tone of black humor, tenderness or emotional validation, I think that was a good guess. At the same time, they also represent situations that occur in children, such as a mother who certainly wants to do the best for her child, but her exhausting and full work takes her away emotionally. A boy who starts a new school and must learn to defend himself, Vincent represented an angel in the boy's life.
From my side, I could see that they have classified the film in scores from 7 to 8, on a scale of 10. But, personally, I would add a score of 9.5 to the film, because beyond just humor, it softens everyday life and love that blooms after disasters. A good lesson.

Una maravillosa producción que combina el sarcasmo, malas decisiones, heridas emocionales y ángeles terrenales para enganchar a la audiencia. Sinceramente desde mi lado, cuando decidí ver la película pensé:
"esta aquí Melissa McCarthy, debe ser simplemente exquisita en cuanto a comedia". Pero, la verdad revuelca un poco tu parte sentimental.
Acostumbramos a ver a Melissa McCarthy en un papel muy humorístico donde es especialmente el centro de atención y representa personajes sumamente alegres, tal como es el caso en el film de "Tammy" ó en "Spy: una espía despistada". Sin embargo, en esta ocasión vemos a Melissa McCarthy dando vida a un papel algo diferente, donde reencarna a Maggie. Ella, es una dama entrada en años que es engañada por su esposo, inicia un divorcio y recién se muda a un sitio nuevo para empezar una vida diferente al lado de su hijo Oliver. Una nueva vida que debe construir en base a largas jornadas de trabajo y lidiar con los episodios de ausencia en la vida de su hijo.
En la nueva casa tiene como vecino a Vincent, representado por el famoso Bill Murray, quien era un hombre muy mayor que tenía una vida desordenada y amargada. De entrada, al momento de la mudanza de Maggie, el servicio de mudanza le arruina una rama de un árbol y a la vez esta cae sobre el auto de Vicent. Allí inicia una estrepitosa relación, que se ve reafirmada cuando al siguiente día Oliver va a la nueva escuela y sufre de ataques por los compañeros, le roban la ropa, móvil, billetera y llaves de la casa. Penosamente el niño no puede entrar a su propia casa y la madre aún está en el trabajo, por ello le pide a Vicent que le permita realizar una llamada. La madre se preocupa por lo sucedido y le pide a Vicent si puede cuidarlo, pagando por cada hora en que hace de niñero.
Vincent, en vista de que necesita el dinero acepta el trabajo. Y durante un tiempo comparte con el niño, descubre que es un niño que necesita apoyo y dirección, al igual que el mismo. Pese a ser un señor entrado en años, tenía los malos vicios de ser alcoholico, apostador, fumador y frecuentar una prostituta. La vida de Vincent era muy solitaria, su esposa tenía Alzheimer y se encontraba internada en un asilo especial, allí había empezado el mal y el desorden.
La vida de Oliver y la de Vincent se cruzan para establecer una bonita relación de amigos, dandóse cuenta el niño que su envejecido amigo tenía características más "Santas" que cualquier otra persona que ha conocido. Durante la trama, la vida inescrupulada de Vincent lo llevan a sufrir una embolia, hecho que lo hace ver un tanto mejor la vida que le resta.
La verdad, la película se pinta en el género de Comedia, sin embargo tiene toques fuertes de contextos de vida que hacen quebrar a cualquiera. La actuación de Melissa McCarthy, Bill Murray y Jaeden Martell (Oliver) son aplaudibles, parecen personajes tan definidos dentro de la historia que te hacen olvidarte por un momento que solo es actuación.
En cuanto a consideraciones de libreto, diálogos y ambiente, no hay quejas, todo se ve a tono en cuanto al desarrollo de la historia y muestra lados posibles de la vida. Las escenas son en tono de humor negro, ternura o validación emocional, creo que en eso fue una buena atinada. A la vez, representan también situaciones que se dan en niños, como una madre que ciertamente desea hacer lo mejor su hijo, pero su trabajo agotante y repleto le aleja emocionalmente. Un niño que inicia en una nueva escuela y debe aprender a defenderse por sí solo, Vincent representó un ángel en la vida del pequeño.
Desde mi lado, pude notar que han clasificado el film en puntuaciones de 7 a 8, en una escala de 10. Pero, personalmente agregaría al film una puntuación de 9.5, porque más allá de solo humor, enternece la cotidianidad y amor que florece luego de los desastres. Una buena lección.

Una excelente recomendación, y la verdad no había oído sobre esta película, es que Dios Mio hay tantas películas buenas que no conozco y todos los años estrenan tantas que siento que no me alcanzara la vida para verlas todas enteras, sin duda esta trama me llama muchísimo la atención, porque son situaciones cotidianas que muchas familias pueden vivir hoy en día, sobretodo cuando se trata de madres solteras, estoy segura que muchas se sentirán identificadas con la historia, además de que a muchas les gustaría tener a un vecino así de confiable como para dejarle a tu niño, cosas que solo pasan en películas porque en la vida real con lo malvado que esta el mundo, sabemos que no podemos confiar ni de nuestra propia sombra. Jajaja entiendo esa sensación jaja. Y te aseguro que es imposible ponerse a ver tantas cosas, jaja consumen el tiempo. Desde mi lado me gusta tratar de ver una diaria, me ayuda a desconectarme y a la vez me es funcional para escribir sobre ella. Una cosa que si aplico es escribir sobre las que realmente me gustan de alguna manera. En modo contrario, entonces solo salto el día de la película.
Y bueno eso sí, supongo que solo en películas se ve tal cosa de un vecino convertido en ángel para un niño. Tienes razón. Pero igualmente es bueno pensar que aún existen buenas personas en el mundo. La vida en familia actualmente se ve más reorganizada que en décadas pasadas, a veces son aspectos buenos y otros no tanto, empujan contextos inadecuados. Supongo que todo es cuestión de decisiones a partir de lo que podemos real y sinceramente contar.
