DRIFTING HOME (Would They Ever Find Their Way Back?)

It's been a while since I've written a movie or series review. I have actually watched several films in the past months, but never really had the motivation to do so. T_T Anyway, I'm feeling motivated to write these days, so let's get it on!

In this post, I'll be talking about an animated film I watched a few months back. It's called "DRIFTING HOME".

What is this movie about?

The movie revolves around the lives of the main characters Kosuke and Natsume.

These two sixth graders are childhood friends. They used to live together in an old apartment complex. For some reasons, the place where they used to live is about to be demolished. However, it's not only the place that is falling apart but also their relationship. They started avoiding each other an not one of them tries to reach out to the other.

At the beginning of their summer vacation, they together with their friends unintentionally gathered in the old apartment complex. They ended up trying to relive their days there and reminisce the old times. When suddenly an unexplained and mysterious phenomenon happened. When they came to, the apartment complex was drifting away.

How would this occurrence affect their relationship and their lives? Will these kids be able to find their way home? What is this mysterious phenomenon? Find out what happened by watching the movie. <3

Anyway, I'll drop the trailer here below.

What do I think about the movie?

I LOVE IT!

Technical-wise, it was to my liking. I like the art style, the animation style as well as the music they used in the movie. It's very well-made and the setting --- despite it being in a run-down apartment complex in the middle of nowhere --- they were able to make it as entertaining as being in various worlds.

As for the story, I also really enjoyed it. It showed various emotions and is pretty relatable even though they live in such an unrealistic world. It really hits home for me as it brought back a lot of nostalgic memories when I was a child. There's this certain attachment you feel towards not only people but even places. There are places you feel the happiest even though you've only spent a short time there.

On the other hand, there would also be a time when you have to let go of these memories in order to move on and create new ones. I guess this kind of concept and emotion were beautifully depicted in the movie.

The ending was especially emotional for me that I somewhat wanted to change it a tiny little bit. hahaha You'll know what I mean if you watch it. All in all, it was pretty good and I would definitely place it on my "to re-watch list".

I hope you give this animated film a chance if you still haven't. See you around! (^^,)/

Sort:

I like to watch anime movies because the animation seems calmer and more detailed than a normal anime series, I will give this movie a chance

Yaaaay!! Glad to know that... I hope you enjoy it as much as I did... :)

Is this what I think it is? OMG... It looks like it.

What did you think it is??? Tell meeee!!! hahaha xDDD

For me, it's pretty much like Digimon? No? HAHAHA

Ohh.. is it?? The art style is kind of similar, though. :D And some characters look like Digimon characters, too.. haha xDD

See? That's why I thought It may be Digimon... On Netflix?! Hahaha, can you imagine that?

hahahaha... Yeah... now I can't "unsee" it. :D

Hahaha,LoL

came across a trailer of this and thought it does look interesting and hoping it doesn't end in a 'Cast Away' like setting 😅 if it's any good as Your Name and as magical as Belle than I'm giving it a watch 😃 thank you for sharing your review on this!
