Horror classics will never go out of style and this time we are talking about a saga that is as popular as its name in several countries. We are talking about Child's Play, specifically the second part, which continues the morbid yet hilarious story of a possessed doll that murders everyone. The idea was such a blockbuster even though the critics didn't miss the opportunity to trash it, especially its second installment which I thought was just as good as the first, because of its resemblance. Let's not forget that this story is about a little boy playing with his favorite toy, but unlike Toy Story, this little Andy didn't have a good childhood.

Los clásicos del terror nunca pasarán de moda y en esta ocasión hablamos de una saga que es tan popular como su nombre en varios países. Se trata de Child's Play específicamente la segunda parte, la cual continúa ese morbo y a la vez hilarante de un muñeco poseído que los asesina a todos. La idea fue tan taquillera aunque la crítica no perdió la oportunidad de destrozarla, especialmente su segunda entrega que me pareció tan buena como la primera, por su parecido. No olvidemos que esta historia se trata de un niño jugando con su juguete favorito, pero a diferencia de Toy Story, este pequeño Andy no tuvo una buena infancia.

Synopsis
To put an end to the bad publicity that surrounds it, a toy factory rebuilds Chucky two years after having been burned to a crisp, the repair brings serious consequences and the diabolical doll is resurrected to continue his misdeeds. Now in this new installment, he will look for Andy Barclay, his little nemesis, to finish him off once and for all and escape from that doll's body before it is too late.
Sinopsis
Para acabar con la mala publicidad que la rodea, una fábrica de juguetes reconstruye a Chucky dos años después de haber quedado achicharrado, la reparación trae grave consecuencias y el muñeco diabólico resucita para continuar con sus fechorías. Ahora en esta nueva entrega, buscará a Andy Barclay, su pequeño némesis, para acabar con él de una vez por todas y poder escapar de ese cuerpo de muñeco antes de que sea demasiado tarde.
Personal opinion
The Chucky saga has become a cult for all of us who love horror. This classic is a must-see when it is broadcasted on a streaming service or television. We all know the famous doll, especially for his ironic evil and black humor. This second installment continues the idea of the first one, with the same terror and the same special effects. Here we will see a braver but orphaned Andy, left at the mercy of the state for being a minor until he finds guardians to take care of him.
Then we will see Chucky, more biting than in the first film, expressing those macabre jokes that characterize him along with that hilarious laughter. This time the evil character will seek revenge against Andy, and will try to use him as a bridge to escape from his doll body. The movie is not another story but a continuation, which was very much criticized by critics, since it offers nothing new but follows the same sequence.
But more than one fan of this movie didn't mind these details, as the doll had already acquired too much fame to be booed the story. I liked that they kept the same humor, although the time was too much for a second movie, I think they could have done it in less time, but the production will have their reasons.
The story of Child's Play is simple, but too effective at the box office. I read a news about a series that would be aired on SyFy channel, and that would star Alex Vincent (Andy), returning to the saga once again after his participation in the last movie. Many fans of the diabolical doll wanted this to happen, but few foresaw the delays that COVID-19 would cause and that this would increase their anxieties.
Going back to the story, I think they could have created a more believable continuation and crafted a different story, I mean, repetitive stuff can be great, but in this case by watching the sequence we know how it will all end. Good thing they didn't continue this plot in the subsequent movies, where we will find Chucky with a girlfriend and later with a son, characteristics that give new connotations to the character, giving him more humor and a different living doll story.

La saga de Chucky se ha convertido en un culto para todos los que amamos el terror. Este clásico es imperdible al momento de ser transmitido en un servicio de streaming o la televisión. Todos conocemos al célebre muñeco, especialmente por su irónica maldad y humor negro. Esta segunda entrega continúa la idea de la primera, con el mismo terror y los mismos efectos especiales. Aquí podremos ver a un Andy más valiente pero huérfano, dejado a merced del estado por ser menor de edad hasta buscar a unos tutores que se encarguen de él.
Luego veremos a Chucky, más mordaz que en la primera película, expresando esos chistes macabros que lo caracterizan junto a esa risa hilarante. Esta vez el malvado personaje buscará venganza contra Andy, e intentará usarlo como puente para escapar de su cuerpo de muñeco. La película no es otra historia sino una continuación, cosa que fue muy apaleada por la crítica, ya que no ofrece nada nuevo sino que sigue la misma secuencia.
Pero a más de un fan de esta película no le importó estos detalles, pues el muñeco ya había adquirido demasiada fama como para ser abucheada la historia. Me gustó que mantuvieran el mismo humor, aunque el tiempo fue demasiado para una segunda película, creo que la pudieron haber hecho en menos tiempo, pero sus razones tendrá la producción.
La historia de Child’s Play es simple, pero demasiado efectiva en taquilla. Leí una noticia sobre una serie que sería transmitida por el canal SyFy, y que tendría como protagonista a Alex Vincent (Andy), volviendo a la saga una vez más después de su participación en la última película. Muchos fans del muñeco diabólico deseaban que esto pasara, pero pocos previeron los retrasos que provocaría el COVID-19 y que esto aumentaría sus ansias.
Volviendo a la historia, creo que pudieron haber creado una continuación más creíble y elaborar una historia diferente, es decir, las cosas repetitivas pueden ser grandiosas, pero en este caso al ver la secuencia sabemos cómo terminará todo. Que bueno que no continuaron esta trama en las películas subsiguientes, donde encontraremos a Chucky con novia y después con un hijo, características que le dan nuevas connotaciones al personaje, dándole más humor y una historia de muñecos vivientes diferente.

Conclusions
After 20 years, I have finally been able to finish Child's Play 2, it has been a rewarding experience although I was really looking for a horror movie that would make me laugh a little and what better than a classic to do it. Here we will see the same drama as in the first installment, with the same wicked laughter and a different heroine who will face the evil doll. We will have moments of action, uncontrolled killing and a bloodthirsty humor that only Chucky can give us. Although the ending, as expected, brought predictable surprises, without any impression, the effects will always be of my admiration because all the time I expect to admire them.

Después de 20 años, he podido finalmente terminar Child’s Play 2, ha sido una experiencia gratificante aunque en realidad buscaba una película de terror que me hiciera reír un poco y que mejor que un clásico para hacerlo. Aquí veremos el mismo drama que en la primera entrega, con la misma risa perversa y una heroína diferente que enfrentará al malvado muñeco. Tendremos momentos de acción, matanza descontrolada y un humor sanguinario que solo Chucky nos lo puede dar. Aunque el final, como era de esperarse, traía sorpresas predecibles, sin ninguna impresión, los efectos siempre serán de mi admiración pues todo el tiempo espero admirarme por ellos.

Tengo mucho tiempo sin veras películas originales de Child’s Play y tengo ganas de volverlas a ver, sé que luego el terror se mezcló con la comedia negra pero las 3 primeras películas supieron balancear todo muy bien.
En eso tienes razón, creo que eso ha sido un gancho para que obtuviera tanto público. A veces mezclar el humor con el terror es favorable y suaviza mucho las cosas.

I think Chucky series in 90s are better than the sequels in 2000s.
