Part 3/9:
The bus becomes a microcosm of society, bustling with a mixture of people seeking basic survival—squeezing into cramped seats, asking for cigarettes or spare change, and enduring the irritable drivers, often Black men or women who manage the chaos with patience or sharp wit. Such journeys are less about comfort and more about survival, with passengers adapting to their environment or risking conflict if they don't.
Characters of the Road
Throughout these rides, encounters vary wildly—from note-passing homosexual gentlemen to individuals boasting about their cars or showing off jewelry and tattoos. There are stories of moments of tension, such as a man threatening to shoot himself or another trying to get wild, which add a layer of danger and unpredictability to bus travel.
