The Fight for Tobruk and Reinforcements

As Rommel’s forces advanced cautiously, British and New Zealand units held their positions with determination. The 22nd Armoured Brigade and other British units planned to ambush and outnumbered German columns threatening Tobruk, though staging was imperfect due to coordination issues. Despite this, the British tank strength in the region showed an encouraging numerical superiority—for the first time in days—potentially setting the stage for a significant battle.
