Part 7/13:
Despite exhaustion, combat persisted. On December 5th, Anderson’s Indian Brigade launched a bold attack on Point 182, capturing part of the Italian stronghold and destroying vital supply dumps. Rommel’s forces, though battered, attempted to counterattack, but their efforts were hampered by logistical failures, disorganization, and persistent British resistance.
The Germans suffered heavy personnel and equipment losses—over 3,800 men and 142 panzers—yet refused to break completely. On the same day, a significant attack led by the 15th Panzer Division was repelled after fierce fighting and the loss of their commander, Neumann-Sylkow, wounded in battle.
