Part 7/11:
The service will primarily target 18–19-year-old French youth, stemming from a voluntary system similar to the Norwegian model, with potential for mandatory service in extreme circumstances, such as national crises.
Structure and Duration
Participants will serve for 10 months, beginning with an initial month of basic military training focusing on discipline, weapons handling, marching, and the traditions of the armed forces. This will be followed by nine months of operational service within military units, performing tasks comparable to those of active personnel—such as patrolling, assistance, and guarding key infrastructure—entirely on French territory.
