Part 3/17:
Origins of the Taínos and Migration Theories
The arrival of the Taínos is believed to have occurred approximately 5000 years ago, possibly migrating from South America, specifically from regions such as present-day Colombia and Venezuela, through possible maritime routes or land bridges that once connected the continents. Archaeological evidence, such as pottery styles and farming practices, supports the theory of migration from South America, with linguistic and cultural links indicating a gradual settlement process. Some scholars propose they descended from earlier Arawak-speaking peoples, evolving over generations into the distinct Taíno civilization.
