Building a Competitive Team
With the foundation in place, the Raptors set their eyes on creating a competitive roster. They brought in basketball legend Isaiah Thomas to help build the team, at the time, Thomas was fresh off his playing career. He and Glen Grunwald, who Thomas insisted on bringing to the front office, were tasked with selecting players in the NBA expansion draft—a process that came with its inherent challenges.
