Part 2/9:
The UK was a member of the European Union from 1973 until January 2020. The decision to leave, encapsulated in the 2016 referendum, was narrowly won with 51.9% of voters opting for exit. Since then, the ramifications of that decision have been heavily debated, marked by a tumultuous political landscape. The current Labour government appears to be reconsidering certain tenets of Brexit, allegedly aiming to foster a closer relationship with the EU, particularly under a new mobility proposal for young people. This, however, raises questions about potential concessions in fishing rights and regulatory autonomy that the UK may have to relinquish in exchange.
