Similarly, early visions of mobile communication, like the Apple Newton and General Magic's Magic Link, clearly foreshadowed smartphones but were not sustainable at the time. These predecessors had limited capabilities and were often dismissed. Even after the debut of handheld devices like PalmPilots and Blackberries, widespread acceptance took time, paving the way for the smartphone revolution epitomized by the iPhone.
