Perhaps most damaging were the failures within the Uran-9’s core weapon systems. The 30mm cannon, touted as a cutting-edge feature, experienced multiple delays and even total failures during operations. Its lack of stabilization was a glaring design flaw; it could only fire accurately from a stationary position. This was a significant disadvantage in modern combat, where moving and firing simultaneously is standard.

The vehicle’s optical and target detection systems also proved inadequate. They could not identify distant targets reliably, and the presence of false positives made operational use risky. These combined deficiencies rendered the Uran-9 effectively useless in a combat environment, and critics concluded it was not fit for conventional warfare.
