Morris's 1,000-yard season—desmitted by league re-examination after a fumble—made him part of NFL history as one half of the league's first 1,000-yard duo. His explosive runs and ability to stretch defenses were crucial to Miami's success. After football, Morris became a motivational speaker, overcoming addiction after a convicted stint for drug trafficking, and was inducted into the Dolphins Walk of Fame in 2013. He died in September 2024 at age 77.
