In response, The Phoenix team leaned into the strengths that had previously made their programs impactful—community, connection, and activity—shifting to a virtual platform. This pivot was not merely about recreating physical workouts but about cultivating a supportive environment where individuals could share their journeys, find camaraderie, and feel less alone.
One participant, a newcomer to sobriety, expressed how vital these virtual gatherings were: "I'm in the perfect spot to get sober. You know, I'm six days in now, so I'm brand new to it." For many, the virtual classes became a lifeline, providing structure, motivation, and a sense of belonging during a turbulent time.
