One pioneering project, SCoPEx (Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment), exemplifies this approach. It involves launching a small balloon that releases less than two kilograms of calcium carbonate particles into the stratosphere, creating a controlled "test tube" environment. Instruments then sample and analyze how these particles disperse, react, and behave in the actual atmosphere.
