Initially, the project was called the Women’s Health Concept Project, but the team recognized its limitations—they wanted to include everyone with a vagina, regardless of gender identity. They shifted their language to focus on "health for people with vaginas" and adopted a gender-neutral character named Jamie, moving away from gendered language that can alienate or exclude.
This inclusive approach underscores an essential lesson: language shapes perception and experience. By framing the pelvic exam as a universal need—not solely a "woman's issue"—the team fosters a more supportive, respectful healthcare environment.
