Rethinking Homelessness and Its Assumptions
When most people think of homelessness, they picture panhandlers on street corners or individuals living rough outside urban environments. Families and children rarely come to mind, partly because they are less visible. In reality, however, homelessness affects approximately 2.5 million children annually in the United States. Many of these children are school-aged and attend local schools, but traditional educational models often fail to meet their complex needs.
