One particularly compelling use case for Amber’s technology is in police-worn body cameras. Law enforcement agencies rely heavily on video evidence during investigations and trials. However, there have been concerns about the potential for tampering or selective editing of footage to cast officers in a better light or obscure misconduct.
With Amber’s system, each clip from body cameras can be securely fingerprinted at the moment of recording and stored on the blockchain. Whenever this footage is reviewed or shared, stakeholders—including courts, attorneys, or oversight bodies—can verify its authenticity. For example, a one-minute clip of an incident will have the same cryptographic fingerprint as the original two-hour recording, ensuring nothing has been altered or manipulated.
