One core focus of Floreo’s VR lessons is fostering joint attention—the ability for two individuals to focus on the same object or activity, a foundational social skill often impaired in children with autism. The challenge for researchers was to empirically prove that VR could effectively help develop these skills. Collaborations with educational institutions, like Celebrate the Children, a specialized school in New Jersey, provided a testing ground for these innovations.
