Data shows that approximately 70% of airline flights in the U.S. are less than 1,000 miles, and most travelers fly within ranges of 5 to 750 miles. For these typical routes, current battery and fuel cell technology can already support aircraft with around 40 passengers flying approximately 500 to 800 miles.
