To better understand the scale and path of e-waste, the Basel Action Network and other organizations have taken bold steps. For instance, RAVEN, a program that embedded GPS trackers into recycling equipment, uncovered that approximately 40% of the e-waste destined for recycling in the US was shipped overseas. This practice not only circumvents environmental regulations but also exposes vulnerable populations in Southeast Asia and other regions to toxic hazards, contaminating food supplies and harming health.
