Part 4/8:
Many stories within the program reveal powerful before-and-after narratives. One member who grew up in foster homes, labeled as emotionally disturbed, faced a turbulent youth that led to street life and a prison sentence. After serving four and a half years, they found themselves homeless, unsure of next steps.
Their journey began at the core of the program, symbolized by a place called “Fortune’s Castle,” where they first circled up with Back on My Feet. Starting with walking and small goals like running to streetlights, they gradually built endurance and confidence. With encouragement from volunteers and peers, they began completing 5K and 10K races.
