Developing a life-sized, free-swimming animatronic was a formidable task. The mechanical challenge involved designing joints, servos, microprocessors, and sensory systems capable of mimicking the fluid and complex movements of aquatic animals such as dolphins, orcas, sharks, and belugas.
To tackle this, extensive research was conducted. Engineers and designers studied countless hours of footage of these animals, analyzing their motion profiles—specifically, the accelerations and torques involved in natural movement. By understanding these physical dynamics, they could replicate the biomechanics with unprecedented precision.
