The emphasis on “Work-and-Learn” opportunities, rapid credentialing, and support for small business reflects a commitment to creating sustainable economic growth.
Some residents are dreaming big—families with roots in coal are contemplating opening their own manufacturing facilities or machine shops. One community member remarked, “Who’s to say that somewhere down the road, we can’t have our own machine shop, and my boys and I have our own manufacturing facility here in Eastern Kentucky?”
