A Frustrated Citizen Sparks Change
In 2018, Ron Thompson grew increasingly frustrated with the dangerous and confusing state of his neighborhood's infrastructure in Washington, D.C. He had repeatedly requested that the city install a proper crosswalk at an intersection plagued by speeding drivers and poorly visible signage. Despite his efforts, little had changed, and tragedy struck in 2019 when a pedestrian was killed just a few blocks away from the unsafe intersection. This devastating event galvanized Ron to take action himself.
