The disruption to Movies Anywhere is a blow, especially given how it allowed owners to integrate physical media purchases with digital libraries. For example, owning a Blu-ray with a digital code meant you could stream that movie through multiple platforms—an extremely consumer-friendly feature. With Google's withdrawal, that flexibility diminishes, and consumers are faced with the renewed threat that these licenses could be revoked entirely if Disney or others decide to pull their licenses from digital platforms altogether.
