Metrics, Measurements, and the Streaming Industry’s Obfuscation
The way Disney and other streaming platforms measure success continues to be opaque, often focusing on "total minutes watched" or simple "number of viewers" without detailed engagement data. Industry analysis tools like Luminate and Samba TV are helping fill the gaps, but even they highlight just how underwhelming Agatha is.
For instance, Luminate’s data shows that only around 2.5 million people in the U.S. watched all three episodes over a full week—an abysmally low figure given the show’s expectations. Comparing this to the total possible viewership – especially considering the initial high-respect scores on Rotten Tomatoes – reveals a disconnect: good reviews do not translate into actual viewers.
