The decline in audiences directly impacts ancillary revenue streams, notably concessions. While ticket prices have risen, actual concession sales haven't kept pace proportionally. In 2018 and 2019, theaters generated approximately $850 to $860 million in food and beverage revenue during the first half of the year. In 2023, this figure has dropped slightly to about $816 million, even as theaters spend more on acquiring food and supplies.
