Part 6/11:
In Greenlight's architecture, users have a lightweight client connected to a server managed by Blockstream, where Lightning nodes are spun up on demand. The system ensures the user's private keys remain solely on their device, preserving sovereignty ("not your keys, not your coins") while offloading the heavy lifting to the infrastructure.
The process is nearly autonomous: a user downloads an app, generates or imports a seed, and the system spins up a Lightning node connected to the network. When a transaction occurs, signing requests are securely delegated back to the user's device, ensuring that private keys are never exposed on the server. Decker highlighted how this approach reduces management overhead and enhances security without sacrificing control.
