During an interview with MTV, Ortega was asked about the possibility of reimagining classic roles. The conversation shifted to the idea of gender-swapping well-known characters like Edward Scissorhands or James Bond. When the interviewer suggested that Tim Burton might approach her about being cast in a gender-swapped Edward Scissorhands, Ortega promptly disagree with the premise. She emphasized that women should have their own franchises rather than just inserting women into male-dominated roles.

"I love that there's a lot more female leads nowadays," Ortega said. "But we should have our own. I don't like it when it's like a spin-off. I want to see another badass woman in that role."
