Decline in Player Engagement and Sales
The most telling sign of the game's failure was the precipitous decline in player engagement. In just weeks, the active player base plummeted, and the game lost almost all of its initial enthusiasm. Currently, on Steam, active players are down to around 128—an incredibly low figure for a major AAA title. Subsequent downloadable content (DLC), including the controversial Mrs. Freeze season 2 update, failed to rekindle interest, further alienating players.
Since its February launch, Suicide Squad has seen a staggering 95% drop in players. Warner Brothers, the game's publisher, publicly acknowledged the failure, attributing significant negative repercussions to their gaming division and hinting at the financial fallout.
