Part 11/13:
A counterpoint often raised is that Ubisoft does not seem to apply the same logic consistently across their Assassin's Creed titles. For example, Assassin's Creed Origins, set in Egypt, showcased a protagonist that visually and culturally aligned with Giza and other Egyptian representations, yet was not dismissed or met with the same outrage. This inconsistency fuels accusations that the backlash is driven more by racial and political motives than genuine concern for historical accuracy or cultural respect.
Fans argue that a Black protagonist could work in Africa or Egypt more naturally, given the historical context, but inserting such a character into Japan's feudal period feels deliberately provocative and disrespectful.
