Part 6/10:
The story of Yuk, the Black samurai, has circulated widely in popular culture, often romanticized or exaggerated. However, historical evidence remains sparse, and most academics agree that there’s little factual basis supporting Yuk’s existence as a samurai. Instead, he appears more to be a figure of folklore—a narrative shaped by modern interpretive storytelling rather than verified history.
Despite this, Ubisoft and some supporters seem to embrace the myth as a creative element, possibly motivated by a desire to promote diversity or pursue a unique character perspective. This has, however, led to accusations of erasing factual history in favor of political correctness or contemporary representation goals.
