Many fans and experts have pointed out that this reinterpretation misrepresents Lucas’s vision. George Lucas famously articulated that the Force is about inner balance, not an equal measure of light and dark. In his words, the Force is a reflection of internal wholeness, where chaos or darkness disrupts that balance, leading to self-centeredness and eventually downfall.
Lucas explained that being in tune with the Force is about avoiding extremes—neither fully embracing pure light nor succumbing wholly to dark. When someone turns to the Sith and embraces the dark side, they are out of balance, which leads to selfishness and chaos. Conversely, true balance involves harmony within oneself—an internal state that aligns with the Force’s philosophical core.
