This malaise was on full display during this year's May the Fourth festivities, especially with the release of new content from Disney and Lucasfilm. Instead of reigniting the passion, much of what was unveiled left fans frustrated, skeptical, and downright angry—particularly with the trailer for The Acolyte.
The Acolyte Trailer: A Flop in Every Sense
On May 4th, Disney took the opportunity to premiere a new trailer for The Acolyte, a show that has already been met with skepticism and disdain. Not only did they choose a day when fans are most eager for good news, but they also embedded teasers for the series in odd ways, such as a sneak peek in the end credits of the re-release of The Phantom Menace. Despite these efforts, the reception was overwhelmingly negative.
