After just over a week and a half in theaters, Madame Web is projected to reach approximately $35 million domestically. This figure is disappointing compared to previous flop movies; for example, Morbius, which underperformed and lost money, opened to about $39 million.
However, Morbius managed to gross roughly double what Madame Web is expected to make in its second weekend. While Morbius was a notorious failure, it at least achieved a moderate opening and held a slightly better line in initial weeks. In contrast, Madame Web, with an estimated international haul around $25 million, is unlikely to reach its reported budget of over $100 million plus marketing costs, rendering it a major financial loss for Sony.
