Right out of the gate, the episode attempts to rehash the beloved but feared "Midnight" monster — the invisible, deadly entity. However, here, the monster is altered beyond recognition, functioning differently and exhibiting new, inconsistent rules. It's no longer the silent, unseen menace of the original but a physical threat that behaves erratically, making the entire concept muddled. This approach seems less like homage and more like a cheap way to rebrand a failed idea, undermining its own universe.
