Oyster mushrooms are more productive and can be grown on a substrate of fallen leaves, mulch, dry weeds, sawdust from deciduous trees, sunflower seed husks, any cellulose, even jeans :)

Ah ok. I have a few spots in the forest for Gilden Oysters which I harvest from early spring to late summer (with a break in between) I would love to grow them too one day.

You won't even have to buy mycelium then; the collected mushrooms will perfectly infect steamed grain, which will later become the basis for an oyster mushroom plantation. However, the mycelium must be grown in sterile conditions.

Maybe I'll try it next year!
