do. Sometimes video or wifi won't work unless they install a specific version of the kernel. Sometimes they have to do extensive searches for drivers for certain things. Many of their applications may have needed compiling from source, and it may put bits and pieces in areas outside of the home folder. These kinds of people need something closer to a bare metal backup. Something that will enable them to restore not only their data, but the whole operating system as well. I would recommend doing at least a separate monthly backup with something like Clonezilla as well. Just my two cents for Troy aka Jack Death. Now, I don't know about you, but the company I work for, their workstations are pretty much standard installs, and they don't want you making any changes to the settings or applications or anything.
